Exploring the Ideation Process with Swayed Creative
Our graphic design students recently had a unique opportunity to gain insights into the professional world of design. Amy Phillips, the talented owner of Swayed Creative, graciously shared her expertise with the Collaborative Design Studio class, offering a glimpse into her approach to working with clients.
Amy emphasized the importance of helping clients articulate their vision for a project. Often, clients may have a general idea but struggle to express their specific needs. It is the designer's role to decipher these requirements and transform them into a tangible product that effectively conveys the desired message.
During the session, Amy walked the students through her methodical brainstorming process, highlighting the significance of breaking down complex ideas into manageable steps. She also underscored the value of embracing technological advancements in the field, as they can enhance communication and collaboration between designers and clients.
Mock Ideation Process
Amy then engaged the students in a mock ideation exercise, demonstrating how a designer can guide clients towards a design that aligns with their objectives. This hands-on experience provided invaluable insights into the collaborative nature of design work and the importance of effective communication.
