We have some good news this week as the communities surrounding our various university locations are experiencing a drop in COVID-19 cases. As a result, COVID-19 mitigation restrictions are decreasing in Albuquerque, Oak Brook, and Romeoville.
With these lower levels of infection in the community, we are able to engage in discussions to explore the possibility of having face-to-face classes resuming on the Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque in the second 8-weeks of the Spring Semester. We’re also able to reassess and consider expanding some co-curricular activities on our Romeoville campus.
However, these current changes in the surrounding community restrictions do not affect the modality of Spring semester classes. Faculty should continue to be flexible with students who are unable to attend in person.

Vaccines Are Not Available on Romeoville Campus
At this time, the Will County Health Department is not offering COVID-19 vaccinations for the public on our Romeoville Campus. The only vaccination events that have occurred on our Romeoville Campus have been on an invitation-only basis for individuals in Phase 1a.
College of Education and Social Sciences Vaccination Update
The College of Education and Social Science continues to be in dialogue with our field students around their questions about vaccinations. Field placement students in social work, clinical mental health counseling, and education have received information regarding their inclusion in Phase 1a and 1b groups, respectively. Some students have received vaccinations, but it’s very dependent on their current placements. Vaccination of these students differs depending on factors, such as remote placements, county, school district, and agency guidelines and capacity to facilitate vaccination.

Resident students are mandated to submit the screening every day.
